KSG Trampoline Park Trip on Feb. 16

The Kettering Student Government invites you to Planet 3 Defy trampoline park at 6 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 16. Meet at 5:30 p.m. in the Great Court of the Campus Center to take the bus.
To register, pay $5 to Kyle Kupsche in the Student Life Office on the third floor of the Campus Center. Registration is due by Friday, Feb. 4.
Students Get Free Admission to Planetarium on Thursday

The Kettering Student Government is sponsoring a night at the Sloan Longway Planetarium, 1310 E. Kearsley St., at 7:30 p.m. this Thursday, Jan. 27.
“Dark Side: The Light Show,” which is set to the music of Pink Floyd’s “Dark Side of the Moon,” will be featured. For free admission, present your Kettering ID at the ticket booth.

Dean’s List Luncheon for Multicultural Students on Feb. 1

The Office of Multicultural Student Affairs is having a Dean’s List Luncheon for multicultural students to honor and celebrate multicultural students who made the Dean’s List for the Summer 2021 Term.
The event is from 12:30 to 1:15 p.m. Tuesday, Feb. 1, in the Gold Room on the fourth floor of the Campus Center.
University Provost Dr. James Zhang will be the guest speaker.

The following is the fitness class schedule for the Winter term at the Rec Center:
- Mondays: Fitboard Aquatics with Machelle at 6:30 p.m.; Zumba with Mitch at 7 p.m.; Pool Party Water Aerobics with Machelle at 7:15 p.m.
- Tuesdays: Yoga with Reagan at 6:30 p.m.
- Wednesdays: Self-Defense/Intro to Martial Arts with John at 7:30 p.m.
- Sundays: Women’s Strength Training with Mike at noon
- Mondays through Thursdays: Strength Training with Mike at 6:30 p.m.
Introducing the Kettering Fitness Initiative

The Recreation Services Department is launching the Kettering Fitness Initiative. The program rewards you with free Kettering fitness swag for attending classes.
Start by picking up a Kettering fitness luggage tag from the front desk of the Rec Center or your first fitness class. Instructors will mark off decals on your tags to indicate your participation. The more classes you take, the better the prizes are.
- Six classes: Lanyard and face gator
- 12 classes: Blender bottle
- 18 classes: Tote bag
- 24 classes: Duffle bag
- 30 classes: Stainless-steel water bottle
KGMIAA Awards Sponsorships to FIRST Robotics Teams

The Kettering/GMI Alumni Association (KGMIAA) selected 43 FIRST Robotics teams to sponsor for the 2022 season, totaling $18,000.
This is the fourth year KGMIAA has sponsored FIRST Robotics teams.

Intramural Basketball, Futsal Registration Open

Registration for intramural 5 vs. 5 or 3 vs. 3 futsal (indoor soccer) ends at 12:30 p.m. this Friday, Jan. 14.
A mandatory, virtual meeting for captains and athletic chairs to review league regulations will be at 12:30 p.m. this Friday, Jan. 14. You’ll receive a meeting invitation after you register.
Games will be Jan. 17 – Feb. 10.

Powerlifting Competition on Jan. 19

A powerlifting competition for men and women will be at 6:30 p.m. next Wednesday, Jan. 19, in the Rec Center.
Participants should arrive at 6 p.m. to sign in and warm up. During the competition, participants will test their one-rep squats, bench press and/or deadlift.
Anyone interested in participating must fill out this form and send it to Mike Rumancik at mrumancik@kettering.edu or drop it off at the front desk of the Rec Center.
Free Tennis Clinics at Rec Center

Free tennis clinics will take place at 12:30 p.m. on Wednesdays, Jan. 12 – Feb. 9 on Court 1 in the Rec Center.
No experience is necessary. Rackets are available at the front desk.
If you are interested but can’t attend, contact Mark Taylor at mtaylor@kettering.edu to potentially set a different time.
Conversations Partner Program Connects International and American Students

Are you interested in getting to know an international student?
Kettering’s English as a Second Language (ESL) Program wants to foster casual cross-cultural conversations between international and American students through the Conversations Partner Program. Students will meet weekly outside of class to talk about the topic of their choosing (general discussion topics can be provided upon request).
The time commitment is typically about an hour a week.

Citywide Virtual Tribute in Honor of MLK on Thursday

The 43rd Annual Citywide Virtual Tribute in honor of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. will take place at 6 p.m. this Thursday, Jan. 13.
Michigan Attorney General Dana Nessel is the keynote speaker. Genesee County Prosecutor David Leyton will be the Emcee, and Kettering University Director of Corporate and Community Engagement Venetia Petteway will give the welcome.
In addition, four Kettering University students — Seana-Joy Irving (’22, Applied Mathematics), Candice Ulett (’22, ME), Chelsea Walters (’23, IE) and Chelsea Wright (’22, IE) — will be recognized. They applied for and received Dr. MLK Scholarships.
