Kettering GlobalX To Offer Cybersecurity Bootcamp

Start the path to an in-demand, lucrative career with this Cybersecurity Bootcamp through Kettering GlobalX and powered by Cybint. This accelerated training program is 24 weeks and is designed to prepare people with little to no IT experience for entry-level jobs in cybersecurity.

Designed to combine in-person and self-paced learning, the Bootcamp is led by a facilitator to support you while the online platforms allow you to learn and practice at your own pace. The course also features more than 60 unique labs and more than 100 different exercises to provide hands-on exercises in a safe, virtual environment.

The course starts Oct. 18 and runs from 7 to 11 p.m. (EST) on Mondays and Thursdays.

Sprague is the Vice President for Instructional, Administrative and Information Technology. She has been at the University since 2008.

Profs. Chakravarthy, Gheresus Retirement Reception on Aug. 17

A retirement reception for Dr. Srinivas Chakravarthy and Dr. Petros Gheresus will be from 2 to 4 p.m., next Tuesday, Aug. 17 in AB 1350 and AB 1360.

Chakravarthy is an Industrial and Manufacturing Engineering Professor who has been at the University for more than 38 years (more than 15 in the Math Department and 23 in the IME Department).

Gheresus is a FIRST Robotics Instructor and Industrial and Manufacturing Engineering Professor. He has been at the University for more than 40 years.

Badminton, Table Tennis Tourneys on Saturday

The Rec Center is hosting badminton and table tennis tournaments Saturday, Aug. 14.

Badminton singles and doubles tournaments will be at 1 p.m., while the table tennis singles and doubles competitions will be at 2 p.m.

Early registration is not required. Anyone interested can sign up Aug. 14.

Students, staff and faculty interested in joining or creating an intramural flag football or 3v3 basketball team must register on IMLeagues.com by 12:30 p.m., Friday, Aug. 13. The site tracks upcoming sports, schedules, rosters, games, rulebooks and more for the University’s Intramural Sports program.

A mandatory virtual meeting of captains and athletic chairs to review league regulations will be at 12:30 p.m., Friday, Aug. 13 via Google Meets. Invitations will be sent to those who register teams throughout the week.

Games will be played Aug. 16 – Sept. 16.

The School of Management will have a Business Speaker Series: Launch Your Career event at 12:20 p.m., Thursday, Aug. 19 in the Founder’s Room on the fifth floor of the Campus Center.

Madeline Geffert (’19, Business Administration) will speak about evolving hiring landscape and what students can do to set themselves apart whether they’ve graduated, are about to graduate or haven’t started their first Co-op.

Geffert works at McDonald Hopkins firm, where she works with firm leadership to provide strategic business development support across the firm’s practices and industries. She previously managed all aspects of marketing, public relations, business development, event planning, social media and website management for a law firm of 60 attorneys. Geffert also has nine years of experience in freelance marketing and business development consulting. As a Kettering student, Geffert was the president of Alpha Gamma Delta and DECA. She also was a member of the Sigma Alpha Chi Honor Society and completed her co-op at Lear Corporation.

IME Professor Gives Keynote Address at International Conference

Dr. Abishek Balsamy Kamaraj, Assistant Professor of Industrial and Manufacturing Engineering, presented the keynote address at the Third International Conference on Recent Advances in Mechanical Infrastructure.

His topic at the virtual conference was “Electrochemical Additive Manufacturing: A Non-thermal Metal Additive Manufacturing Process.”

Kamaraj was one of three keynote speakers for the Aug. 6-8 conference, which provides a forum for discussion on issues, concepts, skill development and possible innovations in the mechanical infrastructure sector.
