AB Tunnel to Close Monday for Renovations

Starting Monday, Aug. 30 and continuing through the remainder of the Summer Term, the tunnel between the Campus Center and Academic building will be closed for renovation work.
During this time, there will be two approved entrances to the Academic Building:
  • Northeast ground floor entrance (near the FIRST Robotics Community Center)
  • Main front entrance on the northwest corner of Chevrolet and University avenues
While the primary entrance to the Campus Center will continue to be the southwest ground floor entrance (“pizza doors”), students and employees coming from the AB to the Campus Center will be allowed entry at the main, front entrance to the Campus Center.

Complete End-of-Work-Term Evaluations

Attention senior students, don’t inadvertently delay your graduation!

If you have an outstanding end-of-work-term evaluation, you have not achieved Co-op credit.

To ensure you are on track to graduate, do the following:

  • Review your Degree Works record to see if/how many Co-op credits you still need.
  • Log in to your Connect Co-op records to identify which evaluations are missing.
  • Contact your Co-op manager who can help you meet your Co-op education requirements.

New Colleague Reception on Sept. 8

Kettering faculty and staff are invited to attend a New Colleague Reception from 8:30 to 9:30 a.m., Wednesday, Sept. 8, outside of the Campus Center at the grassy area at Chevrolet and University avenues.

Join us to welcome colleagues who joined Kettering during virtual work operations. We are thrilled they are on board and have looked forward to welcoming them to campus.

2020 Alumnus Publishes Paper at International Conference

Will Page (’20, IE) published a paper at the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers’ Second International Conference on Human-Machine Systems (IEEE ICHMS), which will be Sept. 8-10 in Magdeburg, Germany.

The hybrid conference (virtual and physical attendance) focuses on state-of-the-art research in Human-Machine Systems, including contributions from academia, industry and management agencies.

The paper, “Advancing Human Adoption of Technology,” will be available in the next edition of IEEE’s Xplore.

Page is now a project manager at Light Guide Systems, an industrial automation company, based in Wixom, MI.

The Student Alumni Council (SAC) welcomes you to an Alumni Speaker Event with Chris Nuccio ’09, at 12:30 p.m., Tuesday, Aug. 31, in Room A on the fourth floor of the Campus Center.
Nuccio is the Customer Team Director at Brose Group, a German-based automotive supplier of mechatronic systems and drives, whose North American headquarters is in Auburn Hills. He started at Brose as his Co-op in 2014 while attending Kettering and has been promoted three times in less than nine years.
He earned a Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering from Kettering in 2009, and a Master’s of Business Administration from Oakland University in 2016.
A boxed lunch will be provided upon the completion of this event. Seating is limited. RSVP is required and available to the first 25 students.

Join Us for the Crim Festival of Races

Kettering alumni, faculty, staff and students are invited to enjoy a prime view of the CRIM Festival of Races from 6:30 a.m. to noon, Saturday, Aug. 28 at the 501 Bar and Grill, 500 Saginaw St.
Juice, coffee, water, healthy snacks and door prizes will be offered, followed by free appetizers later in the morning.
Race participants are free to leave invaluable belongings behind and pick them up when they finish the race.

Echempati Named Honorary Professor at Indian University

Mechanical Engineering Professor Dr. Raghu Echempati has been appointed an honorary faculty member in the Department of Mechanical Engineering at the Indian Institute of Technology in Guwahati, India.

Echempati received this honor for his work with IIT’s Ph.D. students, speaking at their conferences, giving guest lectures and working on joint research papers. The appointment lasts two years.

Crim Race Closes University Parking Lots on Aug. 28

There will be no automobile access to and from all campus parking lots, including Campus Village Apartments, from 6:30 a.m. until about noon, Saturday, Aug. 28 because of the Crim Festival of Races road closures.

If you will need to leave during this time, it’s best to park at the Durant-Tuuri-Mott Elementary School, 1518 University Ave., before 6:30 a.m., Aug. 28. Please see the map.
