Donate to Virtual Food Drive

Student Affairs is having a Virtual Food Drive to benefit the Food Bank of Eastern Michigan.

Your donation provides meals to families in Flint and Genesee County, as well as 21 other counties throughout the state. A donation of $1 equals six meals, and a $20 gift can feed a family of four for more than a week.

Now Accepting Teaching Award Nominations

Students can now nominate faculty members for the following Kettering Teaching Awards:

Outstanding Teaching Award: This award is meant to honor faculty who have demonstrated outstanding teaching and support for students. Typically, three faculty members receive the award every year.

Tutt Award for Innovation in Teaching: This award recognizes the accomplishments of an individual faculty member or a group of faculty members who work together to demonstrate excellence in teaching-related innovation. This can include new classroom techniques and activities, pedagogical scholarship, developing new courses or programs and developing new facilities or resources for teaching. 

Faculty Distinguished Citizenship Award: This award is given to a faculty member who serves the university through sustained engagement in activities such as leadership in departmental or university committees, participation in activities that contribute to the strategic mission of the university, activities that contribute to the recruitment, retention, and satisfaction of Kettering students, and performance in leadership positions in local, regional, state, national, and/or international professional organizations.

Professor Speaks at World Math Event

Professor Dr. Leszek Gawarecki presented at the Systemic Initiative for Modeling Investigations and Opportunities with Differential Equations (SIMIODE) Expo.

The theme of the virtual event, which took place Feb. 12-13, was using data in mathematics courses. It focused on teaching differential equations with modeling. Participants attended from around the world.

Dr. Gawarecki presented in a general session on modeling. He described innovative approaches to teaching statistics at Kettering in a presentation, “Adventures in the ‘Islands’ — Enhancing Student Engagement in Teaching Statistics.”

SAE Scholarship Deadline March 15

SAE International is accepting applications for the Dan and Vicky Hancock Scholarship for Mechanical Engineering Excellence. Strong preference is given to Kettering University students.

To qualify, students must:

  • Be a U.S. resident
  • Be pursuing a degree in Mechanical Engineering
  • Have a 3.5 high school GPA or 3.0 cumulative college GPA
  • Have two letters of recommendation
  • Demonstrate a service in a leadership role inside or outside of school
  • Have completed a FAFSA form
