The Pride Alliance is partnering with the Prism Project to provide an educational presentation on child trafficking prevention and awareness from 12:20 to 1:20 p.m., tomorrow, Dec. 1, in the Sunset Room of the Campus Center.
The Prism Project is a long-term safe house for minors who are victims of sex trafficking. They receive comprehensive care to help them heal and thrive in life after rescue.
Lunch will be provided to the first 25 students who attend.
Bulldog Movie Night will feature “Space Jam: A New Legacy” at 8:30 p.m., this Thursday, Dec. 2 in the Sunset Room.
Free popcorn and refreshments will be available.
The Toast to the Tassel Senior Reception for B-Section Senior III students will be from 6 to 7:30 p.m., next Wednesday, Dec. 8, in the Founders Room on the fifth floor of the Campus Center.

Dr. Diane Peters, Associate Professor of Mechanical Engineering, has been selected as one of the recipients of the Engaged Advocate award for 2022.
This honor is awarded by the Society of Women Engineers to people who contribute to the advancement or acceptance of women in engineering.
Peters will be presented with the award in March at the WE Local Conference in Des Moines, Iowa.

Dr. Jennifer Bastiann (’97), Associate Professor of Mechanical Engineering, and Kettering University Board of Trustees member Carla Bailo (’83) were recognized as members of the “Top Contributor Class” of most impactful volunteers at the Society of Automobile Engineers (SAE) International 2021 Contributor of the Year Celebration.
Bastiann’s volunteer work with SAE includes organizing conferences, serving on a journal’s editorial board and advising multiple SAE student teams at Kettering. Bailo’s volunteer work includes speaking at conferences and authoring SAE publications.
The event was Nov. 4-7 in Tucson, Arizona.

The Kettering Student Government and Society of Asian Scientists and Engineers are hosting Diwali Night from 6 to 8 p.m., this Thursday, Nov. 18 in the Founders Room on the fifth floor of the Campus Center.
Diwali is one of the major festivals celebrated by Hindus, Jains, Sikhs and some Buddhists. Also known as the Festival of Lights, Diwali is India’s biggest and most important holiday of the year and typically lasts five days. This year’s Diwali started Nov. 4.
The Society of Women Engineers (SWE) is hosting a movie night to celebrate women in engineering at 6 p.m., next Wednesday, Nov. 17 in the Sunset Room on the second floor of the Campus Center.

Jack Stock, Director of External Relations, was honored with the Gloria DeHart Community Champion Award during the Flint & Genesee Group’s Art of Achievement Awards on Nov. 4.
Stock has been with the University for more than 20 years. His work includes serving as co-chair of the University Avenue Corridor Coalition, a group of neighborhood stakeholders that addresses blight and crime spots, improve community health, stabilize land use, improve education and create partnerships to enhance the community. He also coordinates student volunteers for various community projects and events including, the CRIM Festival of Races, neighborhood cleanups and various beautification efforts.
The award, which is sponsored by Chase Bank, is given to a person or organization that worked to create a positive impact and perception of the area. It was the seventh year for the event, which is a communitywide celebration of the accomplishments that are helping move Flint and Genesee County forward.
The Co-op Team will be available to conduct audits of your Co-op work term requirements and ensure your evaluations are up to date.
The audits will be available between 9:45 a.m. and 1:30 p.m. next Tuesday, Nov. 16, and Wednesday, Nov. 17, near the Library/d.space area in the Academic Building, at the main entrance of the Mott Building and in the Co-op Office on the fourth floor of the Campus Center.
Remember, students must have a minimum of five satisfactory Co-op terms to meet graduation requirements. At least three of those terms must take place after achieving Junior 1 status. Both a student and employee evaluation are required to receive credit.
The first 300 students to participate in a Co-op audit will receive a free care package.
The Wellness Center and Michigan State Police are hosting A Night to Support the Prevention of Underage Drinking from 5:30 to 8 p.m. tomorrow, Nov. 10, in the Founders Room on the fifth floor of the Campus Center.
The event includes a brief informational presentation and demonstration stations to show students the effects of consuming alcohol including, a pedal car driving course, drunk goggles, a driving simulator and sobriety tests.
The first 50 students will receive dinner. Snacks also will be available.

The School of Management’s next Business Speaker Series: Hard Work Pays Off — Forge Your Own Path will take place from 12:20 to 1:20 p.m. next Wednesday, Nov. 17, in the Sunset Room on the second floor of the Campus Center and virtually.
Featured speakers will be Nicholas Pidek ’13, co-founder/owner of Foster Coffee Co., and Ross Person ’19, financial analyst at General Motors. The pair will speak about their career paths and provide advice on how to face difficult decisions in your career.
