The Student Alumni Council (SAC) welcomes you to an Alumni Speaker Event with Jamie Zinser ’99 at 12:30 p.m. Thursday, March 10, in the Cowger Board Room on the second floor of the Campus Center.
Zinser has been the Vice President of Global Automotive Sales and Marketing at Novelis since September 2021. Her job is to debut a new electric-vehicle battery enclosure that is half as light as the steel enclosure thanks to its aluminum-sheet construction. She previously worked as the Chief Technology Officer at Global Automotive Systems for more than a year after spending more than 20 years at her Co-op employer, Dura Automotive Systems, where her last role was Executive Vice President and Chief Commercial Officer.
Zinser earned a Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering from Kettering University.
Tim Noonan, the host of Kettering University’s podcast Horsepower to Hyperloops, will record a podcast with Zinser at noon. Students, who are interested in arriving early, can listen to the interview.
A boxed lunch will be provided upon the completion of this event. RSVP is required. Seating is limited to the first 25 students.

Time Management Workshop on Tuesday

Business Speaker Series Event on March 3

The School of Management’s Business Speaker Series: Entrepreneurship for All with John Kelley will be at 12:20 p.m. Thursday, March 3 in the Sunset Room on the second floor of the Campus Center.

Kelley is the Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of Cerehealth Corporation, cloud-based brain analytics and diagnostics brain imaging company based in Littleton, Colorado.

You’ll learn how to maximize your unique strengths and harness your thinking patterns to set yourself up for success as an entrepreneur in any field.

Lunch will be served. Anyone who registers to attend will be entered into a drawing for a $50 Amazon gift card. You must be present to win.

Battle of the Bins on March 9

The SAGE Club is hosting a Battle of the Bins recycling contest from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m., Wednesday, March 9 in Great Court of the Campus Center.

The event is to raise awareness for recycling on campus. The students who collect and bring in the most recyclable materials can win up to $100 in Amazon gift cards.

Ummel is a Product Application Manager at Diesel North America in Umicore, the same company at which he completed his Co-op while attending Kettering. He has been with the company since 2018, where he manages the application of clean-air technology for diesel-engine systems. Previously, Ummel worked at United Technologies as a design engineer for diesel products from 2014 to 2018.
He has a Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering from Kettering University and a Master of Business Administration from the University of Iowa.
A boxed lunch will be provided upon the completion of this event. RSVP is required. Seating is limited to the first 25 students.

In addition, don’t forget to complete your 2022-23 FAFSA to see if you are eligible to receive federal, state and/or institutional assistance. For full financial aid consideration, complete your FAFSA by March 1.

Students Get Free Admission to Planetarium on Thursday

The Kettering Student Government is sponsoring a night at the Sloan Longway Planetarium, 1310 E. Kearsley St., at 7:30 p.m. this Thursday, Jan. 27.

“Dark Side: The Light Show,” which is set to the music of Pink Floyd’s “Dark Side of the Moon,” will be featured.  For free admission, present your Kettering ID at the ticket booth.

The Student Alumni Council (SAC) welcomes you to an Alumni Speaker Event with Sarah Halford ’96 at 12:30 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 27, in the Cowger Board Room on the second floor of the Campus Center.
Halford is the Business Operations Manager at the Davey Resource Group, a division of the Davey Tree Expert Company, where she monitors the division’s revenues and expenses to ensure its projects remain profitable. She has been with the natural resource planning and management company since 2017.
Prior to joining the Davey Resource Group, Halford spent about a decade in manufacturing at Delphi, General Motors and New Balance.
She earned a Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering in 1996 from GMI Engineering and Management Institute, now Kettering University. She earned a Master’s in Business Administration from Michigan State University in 2004.
A boxed lunch will be provided upon the completion of this event. RSVP is required. Seating is limited to the first 25 students.

KSG to Host Fitness Class on Jan. 25

The Kettering Student Government is hosting a fitness class at 6 p.m. next Tuesday, Jan. 25,  in the Group Fitness Room on the third floor of the Rec Center.

The class will focus on a bodyweight and low-intensity workout. The first 15 participants will receive a free QDOBA gift card.
